Obituary for
Christopher Michael Powers
Christopher Michael Powers, 47, of Rockford, MN passed away suddenly on Friday, March 19, 2021.
Chris was born on May 26, 1973 in Sioux Falls, S.D. to Larry E. and Kathryn I. (Hagen) Powers. He went
to high school in Brooklyn Park, MN.
He was married to Nicole Scheiber on September 12, 1998 in Brooklyn Park, MN. They were divorced in 2018. This union produced two daughters. Chris loved animals, and always had a dog by his side.
Chris worked as an environmental driller most of his adult life. He started his career at GME
Consultants, Inc. where his father and brother also worked and then moved on to Braun Intertec. In
2010 he found his career home at Haugo Geotechnical Services in Maple Plain, MN. He was a hard and conscientious worker and loved his job.
He was an excellent cook and loved to spend hours with friends and/or family, tending his smoker. He had an eclectic taste in music, was a lifelong Vikings fan, fantasy football player, a prolific reader, history buff and frequently played roleplaying games.
Chris was a great friend and was always helping someone install, repair, or replace something. He was a great scholar of the “interweb encyclopedia.”
He was preceded in death by his father, Larry in 2011, maternal grandparents; Everette and Ida
(Pederson) Hagen of Sparta, WI, paternal grandparents; Ronald and Jacqueline (Wells) Powers of Albert Lea, MN, Uncles; Dennis Powers of Keister, MN, Alan Powers of Blooming Prairie, MN, and Floyd Miller of Battle Creek, IA.
Chris is survived by his two daughters, Anna and Abby Powers; his mother, Kathryn (Hagen) Powers, brother and sister-in-law; Jeff and Sandi (Nistler) Powers; ex-wife, Nicole Scheiber, aunts, uncles, cousins, and a multitude of friends.
Chris’s passing leaves a void in our family that will never be filled. We try to find solace in that, someday, the memories may replace the pain. And, knowing that Chris is once again reunited with his best friend and hunting buddy, Ryan.
Memorials may be made to the family or to NAMI Minnesota (National Alliance on Mental Illness).
A Celebration of Chris's Life will be held at a later date.
